Description
A simple, flavorful tomato sauce made with crushed tomatoes, garlic, and classic Italian herbs. Perfect for homemade pizza, flatbreads, and dipping sauces.
Ingredients
1 can (28 ounces / 794 g) crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (30 ml)
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons tomato paste (30 g)
1 teaspoon dried oregano (2 g)
1 teaspoon dried basil (2 g)
1 teaspoon salt (5 g)
½ teaspoon black pepper (1 g)
½ teaspoon sugar (2 g) optional
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30–60 seconds until fragrant.

Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.

Add the crushed tomatoes and mix well.

Stir in oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar if using.

Simmer the sauce for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Allow the sauce to cool slightly before spreading it on pizza dough.
Notes
Use high-quality canned tomatoes for the best flavor.
The sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Freeze portions for up to 3 months for easy future pizza nights.
